I told Allie and Andy I was going to call them my weather couple! We took their beautiful engagement photos in a snow blizzard and they had rain for their wedding; most would think this is terrible but I had some ideas for fun photos. Allie and Andy have been such a fun couple to work with, I would take more couples like them in a heart beat! Plus, their wedding party was simply delightful! They were so easy and kind to work with. I really didn’t expect anything less though, I’ve known Allie and her family for years and her entire family is super sweet.
This was the first time I had the pleasure of photographing at The Gathering Place at Darlington Lake located in Beaver County, PA. A very beautiful facility with that log cabin rustic feel. The lake itself is gorgeous and they have a nice little beachy area and a gazebo, that allowed for a variety of backdrops. The new addition to the venue was the bridal sweet, which I could just live there, it’s a perfect little cabin for the bridal party to get ready in.
Allie and Andy chose to do a first look and spend some time together, prior to getting married. I have some couples that break the mold and do this and I think it turns out to be such a special moment for them. Then they got to relax a little prior to all the big festivities.
Unfortunately it was raining and 40 degrees, so the wedding had to be moved inside but it wasn’t bad since the venue is so large. The guests were more comfortable and we all weren’t getting rained on. It stopped enough that we did get to go outside and take very QUICK photos since it was so cold, everyone did a great job pretending to be warm. The groomsmen may or may not have had fun with some pictures and their old football jackets. They were seriously so fun, which proved to be true later in the night when the ‘cops’ and ‘gorilla’ costume made the appearance on the dance floor.
